After an illness which forced him to retreat from the industry for a while, Cat Cohen came back to the theater. When Cat came back he decided to concentrate on his earlier passion for musical theater.

He studied with Libbe HalLevy and Kevin Kaufman at Broadway on Sunset where he developed a couple of musicals including OUT! which was given a series of readings including a concert reading produced by Clarence Bell at the Barnsdall Park Auditorium. This performance was greeted with a standing ovation.

Meanwhile, Cat got a gig with Opera Pacific as an accompanist and stage manager for the their school outreach program and soon was commissioned by them to write an original show teaching kids not to use drugs. He then wrote The Not So Great Escape a 40 minute pop rock operetta which presented sex, drugs and rock 'n roll to school aged kids, albeit in a morality play form. This was performed throughout Southern California and well received by children, parents, school officials and D.A.R.E. officials and policemen alike.

Cat has several musicals on the shelf awaiting the opportunity for readings and performances.

Recently Cat had made an inroads into film as he was asked by Jay Roewe at HBO to help him with an instrumental song for The Rat Pack, a movie about Frank Sinatra which won a couple of Emmys in 1999. They co-wrote "Candy's Song" which is performed by Jay in the film.
